This website is dedicated to the brilliant novel Play It as It Lays by Joan Didion. For those of you who have already read the novel, are currently reading the novel, or going to read the novel, you can utilize this website to receive a more in depth look into the twisted world of Maria Wyeth. If you would like a brief synopsis of the novel, click on the Summary button. On the other hand, if you want to know more about the author, the movie adaption, book reviews, fan sites, the history of Los Angeles during the 1960′s, other novels by Didion, or even some ‘cheat sheets’, you can visit the Helpful Links page. However, if you want visuals of the many locations that Maria and other various characters saw in the novel, click on the Locations in the Novel button; you will find picture icons representing different suburbs, cities, freeways, and streets that were referenced in the novel.
